2 PART ASSIGNMENT

Describe the “Story Arc” for each of your group’s stories
Background — details — tensions and paradox — conclusion

Identify the emotions you will be conveying for each story sequence
(Not manipulate but draw out the emotions that will best tell the story)

Anger, fear, Sadness, Joy?

What empathy do you want your viewers to feel?

Remember:  All Stories have… Complications/Conflict and Resolution

Keep in mind the standard 8 story elements

Stasis
Trigger
The Quest
Surprise
Critical Choice
Climax
Conclusion

 

Make a “Shot List”
Each shot (10) and each video clip (3) should be a sentence in a story
that will be used to convey a concept or emotion:
(More then one shot or clip can be used for each)

    1. Introduction/Establishing Shot
    2. Medium (The Who or What?)
    3. Close Up (Details)
    4. Portrait
    5. Interaction
    6. Signature (Key Elements, Decisive Moment)
    7. Sequence (The How or an Event)

Remember that you are creating visual narratives
The narrative helps people understand a story in an emotional way, the “what’s next” is the hook,
keeping the viewers on the edge of their seats… The plot, the resolution to the problem can help
the viewer to care and in some cases, motivate to action!
