Marymount University’s Center for CyberSecurity Education
The mission of Marymount University’s Center for Cybersecurity Education is to provide a focus for faculty, students, and the community to collaborate, across disciplines, to understand the cybersecurity challenges that the nation faces with the objective of developing an effective workforce to meet these challenges.
Marymount University is committed to improving the practice of protecting systems, networks, and information for governmemt, business, and individuals throughout the world. Marymount University’s Center for Cybersecurity Education is charged with facilitating community awareness to cybersecurity threats and countermeasures. The center will seek to establish partnerships, support information security research, and assist development and sharing of resources.
The university will seek to establish and foster partnerships with industry, educational
institutions, and professional organizations with the goals of:
Increasing education, training, and awareness of cybersecurity.
Sharing cybersecurity resources.
Improving the practice of information assurance.
Support Cybersecurity Research
The university will support research efforts in cybersecurity and information assurance, including:
Faculty participating in cybersecurity research and sharing of results.
Fostering student research centered on cybersecurity/assurance topics.
Participating with other groups/organizations to further research efforts.
Assist Development and Sharing of Resources
The university will use various methods to develop and distribute resources to facilitate
improved cybersecurity, including:
Developing awareness materials and training for all students, faculty and staff.
Building resources for class projects and hands-on exercises.
Identifying best practices for teaching information security and assurance.
Preparing presentations for community outreach, including local K-12 schools.
